Barack Obama will become the 44th president of the United States of America when he takes the Presidential Oath on January 20, 2009. He will, then, officially become the country's first African American president. He won the adult election on November 4, 2008 with 364 electoral votes. He had to get at least 270 electoral votes to win.

John McCain received 162 electoral votes. Senator McCain will return to the United States Senate.

Missouri's 11 electoral votes and 1 of Nebraska's votes remain undecided.
