ballot: a sheet of paper which represents a list of canidates or issues.
ballot box:
a box used to hold ballots to be counted.
candidate:
a qualified citizen who runs for a political office.
cast: to vote for a canidate or issue.
Democrat: a person who is a member of one of the two political parties having the greatest numbers of members.
election: process of selecting one or more persons by voting.
graph: a visual representation of voting results.
government: a name given to the lawmakers of the nation, state, or local area.
majority: more than half of the total votes that are cast.
nominee: person who is chosen to be a political party's canidate for an elected office.
political party: an organization of people who share similar ideas and puts foward canidates for public offices.
poll: counting votes in an election, a place where citizens vote, or a survey of citizen's opinions.
representative: an individual who makes decisions on behalf of others.
Republican: a person who is a member of one of the two political parties having the greatest number of members.
vote: making a choice or decision in an election.
Executive Branch: carries out the laws. headed by the president. includes 1. all his advisors 2. people he has appointed to government angencies.
Legislative Branch: makes laws. congress, senate, house of reprsentatives.
Judicial Branch:
interprets the laws. headed by 9 justices(judges) of the Supreme Court. they decide/ interpret the constitution.
Democracy: We, the people are responsible for electing those who will govern us.
